2022 Fundraising Activities

COVID–19 caused many of the Friends’ activities to come to a halt. Our fundraising activities were no exception. This summer two dedicated groups of volunteers took on the task of welcoming park visitors to fundraising barbecues and the Lighthouse Gift Shop.  In addition to the funds raised, these venues provide an important opportunity to raise awareness of the work of the Friends. Our sincere thanks to these great teams.

Summer Barbecues

Every Saturday, park visitors have been treated to a barbecue lunch near the park Amphitheatre.  It is estimated that over 2,100 hungry visitors enjoyed a barbecue lunch served by the Barbecue Committee over 14 Saturdays. This dedicated team, led by Bob Engley, gave nearly 800 volunteer hours to the Friends. Their efforts resulted in over $4,400 in net proceeds to help fund our programs. Well done!

Lighthouse Gift Shop

The Friends’ Lighthouse Gift Shop has been closed since the start of the pandemic.  This summer five people volunteered to re-start this popular store.  The shop was opened in late July and over 13 days of operation had over $11,000 in sales, moving inventory that had been purchased over two years ago. Over 300 volunteer hours were devoted to making this happen. The group is already planning for an expanded operation and new products for next season.  Congratulations to Michelle, Janet, Sandra, Darlene, and Teresa.
