Welcome New Board Members

The Friends of Presqu’ile Park recently held elections for the Board of Directors.  Four members of the Board are continuing into a subsequent year in their terms.  They are:  Bev Cook, David Crouch, Tim Lawley, and Phil McRae.  Two new Directors were elected at the AGM; they are Larry Paradis and Donal Gray.

Larry Paradis and his wife Carole moved to Presqu’ile a year and a half ago from Squamish, BC.  Larry spent the last 12 years as Operations Manager for the Sea to Sky Highway Project.  Previous to that, Larry was the Operations Manager for Miller Maintenance supervising highway projects in the Peterborough, Lindsay and Bancroft area.  Larry and Carole’s children and grandchildren all live nearby.

Larry has been an active volunteer for the Friends since he moved to the area.  He has been a member of the work teams that have built picnic tables, viewing platforms and trails.  He has also been involved with the removal of invasive species and planting trees.  Larry will be the Director in charge of Operations.

Donal Gray has a background in Electronics Engineering Technology.  He has worked with the military, Queen’s University and the Federal Department of Industry.  Don’s role as a Senior Inspector with Measurement Canada brought he and his wife Brenda to Brighton six years ago. Their children and grandchildren also enjoy the opportunity to visit the area.

Don has also been an active member of the work team building picnic tables, platforms and trails.  Don and Brenda enjoy acting as Trail Monitors, as well.  Don has been our IT and Website Coordinator, responsible for updating our website and e-commerce capabilities.  Don will serve as a Director-at-Large focusing on technology strategies.
