Our Volunteers Are Amazing!

The Friends of Presqu’ile is a completely volunteer-run organization. We rely on our amazing cadre of volunteers to carry out all great projects all season long. Each year over 5,000 volunteer hours are needed to make sure everything gets done.

Who are our volunteers? Well, they range in age from 14 to over 80 years of age. They come from all walks of life – many are retirees, some are students getting their high school volunteer hours, and others are community members who squeeze time into their busy schedules to help out.

The countless hours and skills help us to make our visions a reality. Together we have achieved so much: continuing to reforest the park, maintaining and improving our trails, building the Garage to Greatness learning centre, completing the outdoor education centre, helping with the park’s Discovery Program, managing our social media communications, and taking care of the behind-the-scenes work of governance and leadership.

In order to achieve our goals, we also need to raise funds to do so. Our Gift Shop team volunteers over 1,200 hours each season, our Barbecue Team has a dozen volunteers who put in over 500 hours. Together they contribute thousands of dollars to fund our projects. We also rely on volunteer efforts to solicit grants and donations for our cause.

Why do they do It? Everyone shares a common love for Presqu’ile Provincial Park and are willing to work hard to preserve and protect it.

We have lots more projects on the radar, some big and some small, but none can happen without volunteer support. If you haven’t signed up to volunteer yet – it is simple to do so. Click here to go to our Volunteer Sign up page on our website to indicate your interests.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, we can’t wait to work with you again.
