Park Update: Summer 2025

It is another very busy summer at the park, with lots of visitors coming to Presqu’ile to escape the heat. The park has been regularly reaching capacity on weekends, so we encourage you to continue to make a daily vehicle reservation in advance to guarantee entry into the park especially on weekends.

If you haven’t visited the Park Store this summer, we encourage you to drop by. We have lots of new Ontario Parks and Presqu’ile specific merchandise for you to check out and of course we are also stocked with lots of ice cream!

This spring/summer we had not one but two endangered Piping Plover nests on our beach!  Having two nests on the beach is a first for Presqu’ile in over 100 years. Unfortunately, the one nest failed after the male bird went missing. The second nest was successful, and we are excited to announce that one chick from that nest has successfully fledged! This means that they have reached 23 days of age and are capable of flight. It will spend a few more weeks on the beach fine tuning its flight skills and fueling up for its first migration south.

Discovery Update

This summer we have a couple new exhibits in the Nature Centre including a new animal ambassador! “Alfie” is an Eastern Musk Turtle, and he came to us from Sciensational Snakes when they closed their business last fall. If you have met our Midland Painted Turtle, you might know his name is Ben Kerrtle, named after the rumrunner of Presqu’ile – Ben Kerr. So, our new turtle is named after Ben Kerr’s associate Alf Wheat.

Our Discovery team has been hard at work delivering a wide range of programs for visitors of all ages this summer. Our weekly schedule is posted on social media and around the park every Thursday. Along with delivering daily interpretive programs, the Discovery team also organizes many different special events each summer. We still have special events coming up this summer and we encourage you to drop in and join the fun!

Species at Risk Day – August 9th – A Day dedicated to the Species at Risk that call Presqu’ile home. Join us for a Guided Walk, a Marsh Drop-in program, or the Fun Fair filled with games and activities. Join us at 7pm for a live animal presentation with Scales Nature Park followed by an opportunity to get up close with native snakes!

David Archibald Concert – August 23rd - Join acclaimed songwriter/ composer/ playwright David Archibald as he presents an evening of songs, stories, and humour for the entire family. His interactive live performances in parks across Ontario have become camper favourites!
