Did you know Presqu’ile Provincial Park has its own tree nursery?
Hidden near High Bluff campground, this unique conservation project has been growing strong for over 30 years!
Each fall, park staff collect seeds from native trees, and with the help of amazing volunteers from the Friends of Presqu’ile Park, the seedlings are nurtured for 5–6 years before being replanted to restore and enrich our forests.
These trees also play a special role in our Memorial Tree Planting Program, a meaningful fundraiser that helps support the Friends of Presqu’ile and gives families a way to honor loved ones while contributing to forest renewal: https://www.friendsofpresquile.on.ca/memorial-tree-planting
This work is more important than ever after the loss of most of the park's ash trees to the invasive Emerald Ash Borer. Thanks to the work of park staff and volunteers, and fundraising by the Friends of Presqu'ile, the nursery helps restore Presqu’ile’s forests for the future.
